Humboldt Residents Reject Fluoridation A special mail-ballot vote was held on September 22, 2009 giving Humboldt residents the opportunity to decide whether to add fluoride to their water supply. Residents rejected fluoridation by a vote of 422 to 274. The city council had previously approved fluoridation by unanimous vote on May 11 but, after protests from residents, voted at their July meeting to hold a special election giving residents the chance to vote on the issue.
